Verbania
Verbania is the name of an area made up of
11 town and villages, including Intra and
Pallanza. This area faces the lake and stretches
back towards the hills. The climate on this
side is particularly mild. Within this area
you will find the botanical gardens of
Villa Taranto
situated approximately 2 km from the centre
of Pallanza. They cover an area of 16 hectares.
The gardens attract scientists and gardeners
from all over the world, as they are the home
to thousands of important different plants
and rare collections, some being the only
species in Europe. After long studies and
a lot of dedicated time, they have acclimatised
in these magnificent grounds between the lake
and the hills.
Cannero
Riviera Located
at the foot of Mt. Carza, in a panoramic position
with a particularly mild climate and mediterranean
vegetation. Cannero itself is a picturesque
village, quiet and relaxing with seep cobbled
streets leading down to its lake front promenade.
On the 2 islands not far from the lake shore
one can see the ruins of the Malpaga
Castle,
constructed by the five Mazzarditi brothers
in the 4th century.
