In 1931, Neil Mc Eacharn a Scottish
botanic lover took over this property and thereafter
dedicated his life to transforming it into one of
the most complex and great gardens of English origin.
A world of rose beds, camellias, huge glass houses
filled with lotus flowers, ornamental fountains with
water sprays, beautiful maple trees and majestic oak
trees make it really spectacular.
There are thousands of plants, imported from all over
the world some of which very rare and others unique
in Europe, after a lengthly acclimatization. They
have been arranged by the eye on an artist to form
a beautiful picture between lakes and mountains. Neil
McEacharn called this garden after his ancestor ,
Marshal McDonald, elected Duke of Taranto by Napoleon.
He donated this property to the Italian State expressing
his wish to have this work continue and its gardens
maintained.
